Our History
ALKEV Private Schools started its educational journey in the 2000-2001 academic year with a deep-rooted history and a dynamic structure. Over the years, the school has grown stronger with each new milestone, nurturing generations of exemplary young individuals.
The story began in 2000, with the school’s first opening ceremony, a special moment marked by the presence of foundation trustees, supportive parents, and 57 eager students from kindergarten, first, and second grades. This modest yet meaningful beginning laid the foundation for a vibrant educational community.
As the school expanded, so did its facilities. In 2004, the F Block Indoor Sports Hall was constructed, providing a much-needed space for athletic activities. Covering an area of 1,135 square meters and accommodating 806 spectators, this hall has become a hub for sports events, thanks to the significant contributions of our founder, Dr. M. Cengiz Sezen, and generous sponsors.
Our commitment to educational excellence has driven continuous growth. In 2007, a new building was added to increase classroom capacity. The 2010-2011 academic year saw a transformative renovation of the kindergarten, embracing a nature-inspired design. Then, in the 2016-2017 academic year, a German-centered educational program was introduced, with native German-speaking teachers leading all-day instruction for primary students.
In 2011, the Z. Mercan Işıl Conference Hall was established under the guidance of our honorary trustees, Mr. Mertem and Mesut Işıl. This modern venue now hosts cultural events and large gatherings, offering students a platform for interaction and engagement.
To further support our educational mission, the primary and middle school building was constructed during the 2012-2013 academic year, creating a more comfortable and effective learning environment. The opening of the ALKEV Private Anatolian High School in 2013 marked the beginning of high school education within our institution, broadening the academic and personal development opportunities for our students.
The year 2013 was particularly significant for our focus on science and technology. We modernized our science and iMac laboratories, paving the way for a contemporary education. The establishment of new iMac, physics, chemistry, and biology labs-funded in memory of the late Mr. Selim Demiren-demonstrated our commitment to scientific advancement.
Art and sports have always been central to our educational philosophy. In 2015, we opened workshops for music, drama, ceramics, maker activities, woodworking, and visual arts, while expanding the cafeteria to 853 square meters. That same year, the high school gained an additional floor, increasing class capacity, and achieving recognition as a German Language Diploma (DSD) School.
The 2017-2018 academic year introduced a pioneering addition: the first and only German-language preparatory science high school class in Turkey, alongside the ALKEV Private Anatolian High School. In 2018, the high school achieved the prestigious status of an IB International Baccalaureate World School, marking a significant milestone in offering an education that meets international standards.
By 2019, our kindergarten had expanded to nine classrooms, and we created four new park areas, providing students with ample space for exploration and play. In 2021, we added approximately 5,000 square meters of new buildings, including the high school C Block and an additional middle school building. The high school C Block, with its state-of-the-art facilities for robotics, technical workshops, a cafeteria, PC labs, and science labs, equips our students with the skills they need for the future.
In 2023, we continued to prioritize physical well-being by adding a second sports hall to our campus, further enhancing our students’ athletic experiences.
Throughout this journey of growth and transformation, ALKEV Private Schools remains dedicated to improving the quality of education we offer and providing our students with even greater opportunities. The future is bright, and we are committed to guiding our students toward it with unwavering support and innovation
